I'm not surprised. The whole enterprise was completely mismanaged from the beginning. I listened to it from its first day until Randi Rhodes called Hillary Clinton a whore. (That's also where I found Thom Hartmann. If you ever have chance to listen to him or read any of his books, don't hesitate.) I enjoyed Al Franken's show very much as well as Rachel's. The concept was good, but it seems as though everyone who ran the damn thing was only concerned with making money. Such an enterprise would take time to make money since conservatives own the vast majority of the radio airwaves. Whoever came up with the concept didn't think it through.
Air America Radio, a radio network that was launched in 2004 as a liberal alternative to Rush Limbaugh and other conservative commentators, on Thursday shut down abruptly due to financial woes.
The network once boasted hosts such as Al Franken and Rachel Maddow, but struggled from the outset, including multiple management shake-ups, a bankruptcy in 2006 and sale for $4.25 million the following year.
